Jennifer Hicks
District Art

I was born and raised in the Casper area, attending Evansville and Oregon Trail Elementary schools, then on to CY Junior High and graduating from NCHS in 1999. After graduation from NCHS, I went to Chadron State College to study art education. While at college I met my husband Robby. I had the opportunity to complete my student teaching at Winfield Middle School in Winfield, West Virginia. The school was set up similar to CCA and had the same great parent backing. Robby and I both enjoyed our time there. After graduating college in 2004 we moved back to Casper and were married that summer. I was hired for my first teaching job at CCA and Mountain View Elementary as an Art teacher in 2005. I have enjoyed working with both the staff and students here at CCA immensely. I look forward to each day starting at CCA. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and pets. I also enjoy working with photography, graphite pencil, pastel and quilting.

Addey Lloyd
Sixth Grade

Hi! My name is Mrs. Addey Lloyd (most people remember me as Miss Covert, for I just got married). I have the privilege of teaching the 6th grade at CCA. This is my sixth year of teaching in NCSD. I am very fortunate to be a part of a grant writing process for AHCC (American History Cowboy Coalition). I also have been applying to different masters programs, looking for the right fit. My passion is education, I consider myself a lifelong learner. Teaching the 6th grade is so rewarding, and I learn something new everyday. During the summer I look forward to traveling, spending time with my dogs and gardening. During the winter my husband and I snowshoe into my family's cabin. I also paint and have been involved with the arts my entire life.

Barb Matson
6th/7th art

I'm originally from Lead, South Dakota where I enjoyed growing up in the beautiful Black Hills. After receiving my B.A. in art education from the U. of Wyo. I spent the next 13 years in Glenrock with a variety of art education positions, K-12. In 1989 N.C.S.D. hired me as an art instructor in Casper where I've enjoyed teaching elementary-middle school art for the past 19 years. It's wonderful beginning my day at CCA. The students and staff are so much fun and it's a great way to begin each morning. Bob and I have been married for the past 29 years. It's been "29 years of bliss", as Bob puts it. We have two wonderful children, Maggie (21) and Jens (19) who are both attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Maggie will graduate this May with a double major in American Studies and Studio Art. Jens is on the cross-country ski team and enjoys studio art and the sciences. I enjoy X-country skiing, walking and keeping fit, the culinary arts, puppy dogs, planting many flowers and working the soil, creating with many different mediums, being with family and seeing children develop their creative potential. Thanks for being such supportive parents. Please come and visit anytime!!

Jackie O'Briant
English

I am happy to be a native of Casper, Wyoming. I chose not to venture too far from home for college, and so I am a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a degree in English and I will receive my Masters in Literacy this December. I have been with this district for three years now, and CCA is by far the best fit for me. I love books and literature, especially all of the classics, and therefore, it is my joy to be able to share these "great books" with students. Lucky for me, I have the good fortune to have both a daughter and a husband who are readers as well.

Mark Pettit
Tutor

I was born and raised in West Texas. My family relocated to Casper during the last oil boom. I attended Kelly Walsh High School my senior year, graduated, and then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I received a B.S. degree in International Trade. I completed a
M.B.A. degree at the University of Wyoming. My first teaching experience was at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. I taught international students business and ESL. I enjoyed this experience so much that I decided to get certified in business and ESL. My first public school teaching position was at Priddy High School in Priddy, Texas. I taught business computers, financial management, marketing, and ESL. I then had the opportunity to become an ESL Director/teacher at a private academy in Harlingen, Texas. Later on, I had the opportunity to be a principal of a private middle school and help start its high school. Afterwards, my wife and I moved back to Casper, and I have worked for the NCSD #1 for the past three years. This is my second year at CCA.

I have been married to my lovely wife, MariAnn, almost 14 years. She is also a teacher. I have two wonderful daughters. Brittany is 9 years old and Brianna is 5 years old. Our family enjoys reading, visiting the library, doing crafts, being involved in church activities, and getting
exercise by biking, skating, and swimming.

I grew up in Livingston, Montana, a small town just 52 miles north of
Yellowstone National Park. I went to college at Montana State University
in Bozeman where I got a major in Spanish and a minor in history. Last
school year I taught Spanish and history on the Flathead Reservation in
the northwest part of Montana. I enjoy living in Wyoming and especially
Casper and hope to teach here for years to come. As far as hobbies go I
like anything in the Great Outdoors and especially love to travel. In high
school I had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica and Spain.

Sheryl Schroefel
Physical Education

I was born and raised in Wyoming and have lived in Casper since '75. I attended Casper College on a basketball scholarship and we were the first female team from Casper to advance to the national tournament. We placed 9th and lost to the national champions. We received the sportsmanship award out of all the other teams so we represented Casper nicely. I finished my college career at College of the Ozarks in Missouri. I returned back to Casper in 1990 and have been teaching here ever since. I have taught at Centennial Junior High, CY Junior High, NCHS, and Casper Classical. I'm currently teaching at NCHS and Casper Classical in Physical Education and Health.

Paul Searcey
Choir

I have taught vocal and general music since 1980, all of it in Casper.
I came to CCA in 2003 from the former East Junior High and I am very glad to be returning to the old "700 wing" as the new home of Casper Classical Academy. Teaching choir is my passion and CCA makes that passion easy to fulfill. The best way to describe my teaching is a phrase the kids use: "If its normal, its not Mr. Searcey!"

The CCA Choir has improved and grown each year. Spring of 2006 was the first time the choir entered a regional competition. They earned first place in the Junior High Mixed Chorus category with a rating of Superior, the highest rating possible. That is the result of setting a high goal and then working toward it. The singers always stretch as far as you push them. Singers at CCA are great!

Matt Sharpnack
Social Studies Political Discourse

I graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1991 with a B.S. in
Political Science. History and government have always been of interest to
me. Competitive debate has always been a love of mine as well. I
represented the Wyoming district at the Debate Nationals, and placed first
during college at several Southern California tournaments, including the
NCAA regionals at UCLA. It was debate that first got me into teaching, as
I accepted a debate coaching position at KWHS in Casper in 1997. I enjoyed
working with the students so much that I decide to pursue a teaching
career. My first teaching position was in Katy, Texas where I taught World
Geography to 9th graders. We moved back to Casper in 2000, where I got my
current position teaching history and political discourse at CCA. I am
convinced this is a special school and I love my job.

Meredith Widiker
Latin English

Meredith Widiker was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. After graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a double major in Classical Languages and German and a minor in language arts, she headed off to Germany to spend a year studying. She taught two years in the Denver schools, then moved to Minnesota where her husband worked. She and her family, which include a son and daughter, moved to Wyoming in 1978. Because there were no openings in the school district in her field at that time, Meredith worked for Phillips Petroleum for 10 years. In 1991, she once again entered the teaching field, dividing her time between CY Junior High and Natrona County High School, Meredith has been at CCA since its inception in 1999, teaching Latin and language arts.
